Maybe they already stop to pick up every interesting leaf they walk past, or ask questions about plants that you honestly don't know how to answer. Maybe you're a teacher who's been searching for a way to get your students outside and genuinely engaged with the living world around them. Or maybe you're just a parent who knows, deep down, that some of the most important things a child can learn don't happen at a desk — they happen on their knees in the grass, peering at something small and extraordinary.

That's exactly why I created Little Herb Hunters.

I built this school because I believe every child deserves to feel the particular thrill of knowing the natural world — not just walking through it, but reading it. When a child can crouch down on a path, recognize a plant by its smell, sketch it in their journal, and tell you a story about how people have used it for centuries... something shifts. They feel capable. They feel connected. They feel like the outdoors belongs to them in a way it never quite did before.

Everything in this school is designed to make that happen in a way that's genuinely safe, age-appropriate, and — most importantly — fun. We start with the foundations: what wild herbs actually are, how to build your Herb Hunter's Kit, and the safety rules that make every adventure a smart one. Then we head outside to meet real plants, keep real journals, and make real things with our hands. We also travel through time and across cultures to understand how humans and herbs have been in conversation for as long as people have walked the earth. And we close by making a promise — to the plants, to the ecosystems, and to ourselves — to keep exploring with respect and wonder for the rest of our lives.

There's no special equipment required, no wilderness access needed, and no prior knowledge assumed. Just a child who's ready to look more closely at the world outside the door — and a grown-up willing to look alongside them. I can't wait to see what you find out there.
